Published 11 March 2025 by AQIC

On March 12, most of the amendments to the cannabis regulations proposed by Health Canada on June 8, 2024 will come into force: Regulations Amending Certain Cannabis Regulations (Streamlining of Requirements). AQIC invites its members to an information session on these amendments.

The session will be led by Jean-Maxim LeBrun, partner at Dunton Rainville, and Jason Moscovici, founding president of Provisions Legal Services, and will cover the following topics, among others:

  • Delegation of QAP activities;
  • Use of ethyl alcohol in inhaled or ingested cannabis extracts;
  • Inclusion of cannabis pollen;
  • Micro-cultivation: cultivation surface and micro-processing;
  • Relaxation of cannabis research requirements;
  • Destruction of cannabis and persons responsible;
  • Retention of visual records;
  • Labelling of cannabinoid concentrations on certain products (e.g. edible products, topical products, etc.);
  • Authorised inserts on packaging;
  • Authorised windows on labels for transparent packaging authorised for dried cannabis and fresh cannabis;
  • Bar codes on containers;
  • Modified health warnings to come, current warnings can be used for the next 12 months;
  • Relaxation of key investor requirements for certain licensees.

As we know, Quebec has its own regulatory framework and distribution system. As a result, you may have many questions about the implications of these changes for your business in Quebec or elsewhere in Canada. This session will provide you with a more detailed understanding of the upcoming changes.

This session will be held on March 27 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the TEAMS platform and is reserved for AQIC members. We invite you to reserve this date in your calendar.
