The New York State Cannabis Industry has reached a major milestone.
Last month, total cannabis retail sales throughout the state surpassed $2 billion to date.
The largest part of these retail sales is flower, followed by vapor pens, pre-rolled products and edibles.
The Office of Cannabis Management broke down sales and statistics today.
“This year through August, we’re up to $1 billion in sales. As a reminder, it took us 2 years to reach our first billion, and only eight months to reach our second,” said Kevin Brennan, Market Policy, Innovation & Analytics Specialist from the New York State Office of Cannabis Management.
Products gaining popularity include pre-rolled products and beverages, which both saw double-digit increases in their market share.
“Pre-rolls and beverages have grown pretty significantly, pre-rolls coming off a high dollar base, and beverages, which is still small but growing pretty rapidly,” said Brennan.
