The AQIC commissioned AppEco, a firm specializing in economic and strategic analysis, to conduct an in-depth study of Quebec's hemp and cannabis industry. This study, entitled “Economic Analysis of the Hemp and Cannabis Industry,” reveals its growing importance within the Quebec economy, both in terms of jobs created and sustained and in terms of revenue for workers and the Quebec government.
Thus, the industry:
supports approximately 8,163 jobs in Quebec
contributed nearly $1.36 billion in economic benefits to Quebec's GDP, including $450 million in net public revenues to governments
is a raw material for a multitude of products in the food, textile, paper and cardboard, animal nutrition, construction materials, and pharmaceutical industries.
