7 years of legalizationCanada

Published 17 October 2025 by AQIC

Seven years after legalization, Quebec's hemp and cannabis ecosystem has proven its strength.

It supports 8,163 people across Quebec with quality jobs that boost our regions. Our agricultural crops now rank fifth in the province, behind grain corn, soybeans, maple products, and field vegetables, generating $337 million in agricultural revenue.

The effects on public health are also confirmed: according to the latest data from the Institut de la statistique du Québec, approximately 70% of consumers purchase their products from the SQDC.

The future looks just as promising. Research into the uses of cannabinoids is accelerating in order to better respond to health challenges, molecules offering solutions continue to be discovered, and hemp is establishing itself as a concrete ally in the ecological transition.

The results of these seven years show one thing: when innovation meets rigor, we create economic value, improve public health, and build an industry capable of carrying out the most ambitious projects.

Moving forward, let's join forces—public authorities, businesses, researchers, and citizens—to meet the very real challenges that lie ahead. Our industry has proven that when faced with adversity, it responds with ingenuity and collaboration, finding solutions that advance the local economy and improve everyone's quality of life.

Together, we are ready to write the next page of Quebec's and Canada's history.
